Tuesday, 20th October 2009 (4329 views) The latest release of the Isle of Man's limited edition Gold Angel coin has been unveiled by Pobjoy Mint.First launched in 1984, new versions of the 24-c gold coin are made available every year. Weighing one-20th of an ounce, the coin features an image of the archangel Michael slaying a dragon and also bears a privy mark relating to the "six geese a-laying" in the Twelve Days of Christmas song, as the coin is the sixth in a series of releases based on the tune. The reverse of the coin has an effigy of the Queen and the Isle of Man triskele symbol is repeated on both sides. Just 1,000 coins will be made, each weighing 1.55g and measuring 15mm in diameter. The Pobjoy Mint has manufactured coins for more than 100 years and has previously struck numismatic pieces for Bolivia, the Cook Islands, Ethiopia, the Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Kyrghyzstan, Peru, St Helena, Spain and other countries.
