Wednesday, 23rd September 2009 (5785 views) A series of limited edition gold bullion pieces and coins designed to mark the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai has been launched.The four gold bullion pieces weigh 500g, 100g, 50g and 20g respectively, with only 100 of the largest size to be made available. Three commemorative numismatic sets include a variety of gold coins, which feature an image of the expo mascot, Haibo, on the obverse. Each coin has one of several different designs on the reverse, including pictures of the Oriental Pearl Tower, the China Pavilion and the Tiananmen building in Beijing. Just 30 of the largest coin in these sets - a 1kg gold piece - will be made, each costing 298,000 yuan (£26,682). The Shanghai World Expo will run from May to October 2010 and is expected to attract some 70 million visitors. It will focus on the theme of Better City, Better Life and will include exhibitions and events that explore the concept of urban living and sustainable development.
