The Florida Lottery has launched a game offering gold bars and coins as prizes for the winners.

Those who buy a ticket for a recently launched game - Gold Rush - and do not win can resubmit their tickets for entry in the Strike It Rich second chance promotion online.

Until August 24th, ticket holders could win one of three gold bars worth $30,000 (£18,257) each or one of 60 American Eagle gold coins, which are estimated to have a value of $1,000 each.

Gold Rush was relaunched by the Florida Lottery last week after the game was first introduced five years ago.

Over $1 billion worth of prizes have been awarded to Gold Rush ticket holders since 2004.

The US Mint first started to produce its American Eagle gold coins in 1986.

All of the issues of the coin have displayed a depiction of sculptor Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty design, which appeared on the first US circulating half-dollar coin in 1916.
