Thursday, 16th July 2009 (1140 views) The solid nature of a physical gold investment means it is one of the best holdings to have during the current recession, it has been suggested.According to comments made by Doug Casey, chairman of Casey Research, in an interview posted on HoweStreet, investors should remember that precious metals bullion is the one class of financial assets that they can own without it also being someone else's liability. He additionally highlighted the ability of gold to be used as "natural money" should conditions get tougher and said that the precious metal can also provide "excellent speculative upside". "With today's markets suffering from volatility and disruptions of truly historic proportions, that sort of solidity is worth a lot - as you can see from gold's continuing strength," Mr Casey remarked.
