A collection of gold pocket watches, many with gold cases, coins, jewellery and other items amassed over half a century are set to go under the hammer in New York later today (July 10th).

Blanchard's Auction Service will host the public sale, which features a total of 375 lots.

Among the items up for grabs are a number of antique gold pocket watches made by the Waltham Watch Company, which produced around 40 million timepieces between the early 1850s and 1957.

A 24-c gold nugget necklace, a 24-c gold necklace with jade, opal and garnet, and approximately 275 ounces of pure 24-c will also be on the auction block, along with gold tie clips, rings, cuff links and a gold palm tree clock.

In addition, the sale will feature a range of gold coins, including an 1852 $1 coin, an 1894 English gold sovereign and a Spanish escado dating from 1788.

The auction will commence at 17:00 local time in Potsdam, New York, today.
