Wednesday, 10th June 2009 (1025 views) A man who uncovered gold coins on a building site in Spain could be set to receive 2 million (£1.7 million).The builder discovered the treasure in Valencia city centre eight years ago, Typically Spanish reports. However, the company for which he was working also made a claim, leading to a dispute. The Supreme Court has now ruled that the workman should receive 25 per cent of the value of the treasure trove, with the local government's department for culture responsible for paying it. According to the news source, the Islamic gold coins are around 1,000 years old and nearly 2,000 of them were in the hoard. Meanwhile, an auction in the UK this week has seen a collection of gold coins fetch more than £76,000. The 57 pieces were discovered by a builder nearly 30 years ago and were sold individually, with auctioneers having predicted that they would go for a total of £50,000.
