"Sleepers" still exist in gold coins marketThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 9th June 2009 (983 views) Those thinking of investing in gold coins have been advised that it is still possible to come across "sleepers".Writing for Numismaster, Mark Benvenuto of Coins Magazine explained that such pieces are defined as being ones that are undervalued, but could soon see their worth increase drastically. He noted that it is not common to find such items in change, but collectors can discover that older examples of gold coins from the US rise significantly in value. "It might come as something of a surprise to know that there are still a few sleepers within the field of US gold coins," said Mr Benvenuto. He added that the Coronet Head series that was minted from 1839 to 1908 could prove to be a good opportunity, as the quality of production varied over the years. In related news, a new gold coin has been produced in the UK, with the Royal Mint creating 1,509 pieces to commemorate the accession of Henry VIII to the throne.
