Consumers in America are being offered the chance to win $100,000 (£60,600) worth of gold coins.

Gold Recycle has revealed that all of its transactions between now and July 4th will be entered into a draw to scoop the prize.

According to the company, the high popularity of gold at present means that anyone who wants to trade the precious metal will find that they receive a good return on their investment.

To that end, it is hoping the 'Win a Gold Mine' promotion will generate up to $10 million worth of purchases.

Meanwhile, a campaign has been launched that encourages people to help charities and other organisations by donating gold coins and jewellery.

Created by Urban Treasures, the Gold For Good initiative is aimed at ensuring that charities continue to receive help, with co-founder Mike Pileggi noting that people can give without having to "reach for their wallets".
