Gold medieval artefacts in Jewish exhibitThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Friday, 15th May 2009 (1457 views) Medieval items linked to Jewish history and goldsmithing are on display in London this month. The Kings, Crusaders and Jews 1066-1290 exhibition at the London Jewish Cultural Centre runs until June 18th and includes gold jewellery and artefacts linked to crafting the precious metal. Many of the objects included in the show are very rare, as relatively few items from the middle ages relating to Jewish culture have survived. Gold coins made by Jewish strikers in Europe will be displayed, alongside jewellery made from the precious metal and tools such as a set of bronze scales used to determine whether coins had been 'clipped' (had their weight adjusted). A US private collector has donated the artefacts to the exhibit, which was curated by specialist Alexander Wolfe from Jerusalem and Julia Weiner from London. Also in London, Elsa Peretti has presented many of the gold jewellery designs she created for Tiffany & Co to an exhibition taking place at the British Museum.
