A free gold coin door prize will be presented each day at the Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo in California later this month.

Taking placed between May 28th and 30th at the California Convention Centre, the event will be attended by more than 1,000 dealers, including traders in coins and jewellery made from the precious metal.

One of the highlights of the exhibition will be a three-hour educational forum on gold investment led by numismatic author Scott Travers and financial journalist Jim Kingsland on May 30th.

Ronald Gillio, general chairman of the event, said that due to "the renewed interest in gold because of the US and world economic situation", the seminar is one of the "most important and timely" ever held at the Long Beach Expo.

Visitors will also be able to see the rare 28-coin Gold River Morgan Dollars Set and the Wild West Collection, a full range of superb-grade Carson City dollars, while children can take part in a treasure hunt.

In related news, Baltimore will play host to the launch of the 2009 Saint Gaudens gold coin during the World's Fair of Money in July.
