Friday, 17th April 2009 (1602 views) A 3,000-year-old bracelet has been uncovered in a field in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland by a farmer and his family.Gary Sproule found the jewellery item after ploughing on the property near Castlederg and it has since been classified as treasure trove. He told the Belfast Telegraph: "I couldn't believe that it hadn't been damaged, as it's about 3,000 years old. It's amazing to think that there were Bronze Age settlers right here on my doorstep." The Bronze Age bracelet could be placed on show at the Ulster Museum and is believed to have been used to fasten a cloak. Thought to have been the property of an important chieftain, warrior or priest, the golden object has been examined by archaeologists. In related news, 400-year-old gold coins found during construction work in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire are expected to sell for around £50,000 at auction in London on June 9th.
