Monday, 6th April 2009 (1225 views) A number of artefacts have been recovered from a ship that once belonged to Blackbeard, including weights which may have been used to measure gold dust.The treasure trove found on the vessel includes evidence that the infamous pirate owned the ship, according to the National Geographic News. Archaeologists have been recovering treasure from the recently discovered 18th century wreck. Marke Wilde-Ramsing, director of the Queen Anne's Revenge project for the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology, confirmed that he was "pretty comfortable" that the ship used to be Blackbeard's. Found off Beaufort, North Carolina in 1997, the wreck is being investigated by underwater archaeologists. It is understood to have been captured by Blackbeard from the French and renamed Queen Anne's Revenge in 1717. In other news, a rare 130-year-old 'Stella' gold coin will go on show in Santa Clara, California, next month, according to NBC.
