Monday, 6th April 2009 (1127 views) Gold items that were placed in the tomb of Egypt's boy king Tutankhamun are due to go on display at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.The Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs show is expected to be seen by up to one million people visiting the museum and tickets are now on sale. Jewels and gold artefacts will be exhibited during the event, which will feature more than 130 items, including 50 from the tomb of the king. Key items on show will include the gold diadem found on the mummy's head when it was discovered during Howard Carter's expedition in 1922. Running from June 27th at the Californian museum in Golden Gate Park, the exhibition has attracted over half a million visitors since it opened at the Dallas Museum of Art in October. Meanwhile, rare gold jewellery dating from the 1500s has been found at an archaeological dig in the Philippines, according to the Cebu Daily News.
