Olympus Pacific Minerals has announced that it has started to truck high grade ore from its Phuoc Son property to its Bong Mieu gold plant.

The Canadian company has revealed that the upgrade of the main Phuoc Son plant is nearing completion and a successful three-month trucking and treatment trial of ore through Bong Mieu was concluded in December 2008.

Olympus Pacific Minerals has installed a series of shaking tables, a second intensive leach reactor and a new float bank over the past six months, boosting the capacity of the existing plant.

David Seton, chief executive of Phuoc Son, stated that it made sense for the firm to "truck and treat the Phuoc Son high grade ore at Bong Mieu and generate positive cash flow for the company until the main Phuoc Son plant is commissioned".

Based in Toronto, Olympus Pacific Minerals operates two gold mines in central Vietnam, both located near to the port city of Da Nang and aims to become a leading gold producer and explorer in south-east Asia.
