Monday, 16th March 2009 (1389 views) Andina Minerals has revealed that it has appointed two new members to its board of directors.The Canadian company announced that Patrick Downey and Melvyn Williams will "strengthen" its board as independent members. Mr Downey is currently president and chief executive of Aura Minerals and has more than 25 years of international experience in the resource industry, including working as head of Viceroy Exploration before its sale to Yamana Gold in 2006. With over 30 years of financial experience, much of it in the mining sector, Mr Williams is Apollo Gold's senior vice president of finance and corporate development and has also worked for Atlantico Gold, TVX Gold and Star Mining. "With the addition of these gentlemen, we have expanded the breadth and depth of the skills and experience of our board members," Andina Minerals chairman Sean Harvey stated. Based in Toronto, Ontario, Andina Minerals is focused on exploration and development activities in the Americas and has a portfolio of precious metals projects in Chile, including its flagship Volcan gold property.
