Expert forecasts further gold coin shortagesThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 10th March 2009 (1710 views) The global shortage of gold coins is likely to become more acute as investors increasingly turn to gold as a 'safe haven' investment in the current economic climate, an expert has forecast.According to author Michael Kosares, the founder and owner of USAGold-Centennial Precious Metals, the US Mint's struggles to keep up with the demand for gold coins has pushed up premiums, Gold Seek reported. Mr Kosares suggested that, with global refiners running at capacity, gold coin shortages look set to continue in the current bull market and rising premiums can "add to the profits for those who already own gold coins". He added that "the current strong demand is the result of a secular gold bull market deepened by the worldwide economic crisis". In other news, expert Christina Goldman stated that the 22-c American Eagle gold proof sets are ideal for collectors and are likely to increase in value over time, Istockanalyst reported.
