Monday, 16th February 2009 (2009 views) Winners at Sunday's Academy Awards will take home not just the most prestigious gong in the world of film, but also the trophy that contains the most gold, it has been claimed.According to the sales manager at Chicago-based R S Owens - the factory that produces the Oscar statues - no other prize contains as much gold as an Academy Award, the Mirror reports. Noreen Prohaska told the paper that 24-c gold will be used to cast the 50 statues created for the impending awards ceremony, but would not reveal how much each Oscar is worth. "I always say they are worth millions to whoever gets them," she remarked, adding: "I have never told anyone the actual value." Briton Kate Winslet is up for the best actress award for her part in The Reader, while Danny Boyle has been nominated for his direction of hit film Slumdog Millionaire.
