Golden Eagle International has announced that it has signed a new agreement to operate the Jerritt Canyon gold mill in Nevada.

Queenstake Resources has agreed to Golden Eagle operating the 4,000 tonne per day mill and substantial progress has been made towards meeting conditions attached to the deal.

The contract was signed in October 2008 and "substantial progress" has now been made towards meeting its conditions, with 18 full-time Golden Eagle employees currently on-site at Jerritt Canyon and a number of part-time workers.

Golden Eagle's chief operating officer Blane Wilson is at the site, bringing with him 24 years of experience managing milling and processing operations and time spent in a range of different posts at the Jerritt Canyon gold mine and mill, located 50 miles north of Elko.

Terry Turner, Golden Eagle chief executive, stated: "We are pleased to have this opportunity to carry out our diversification strategy by establishing a greater presence in north-central Nevada's gold mining district."
