Monday, 3rd November 2008 (1716 views) A new credit card that has been laced with real gold and inlaid with a diamond has been created.Despite the global credit crunch, MasterCard and Kazakh bank Kazkommertsbank have launched the Diamond, similar to a MasterCard unveiled in Dubai last year. The card, which features a picture of a winged horse for male cardholders and a peacock for women, comes with a $1,000 (£618) annual fee. Designed for the super-rich, the card's limit is $50,000 and it comes complete with 24-hour access to a personal credit card manager. Alla Voyakina, Kazkommertsbank head of international payment systems, told the Financial Times: "The [financial] crisis is also affecting us but we are talking about rich people, they can afford to have such cards. It's a question of prestige to have such cards in your wallet." Just 1,000 of the gold tinted cards will be issued and MasterCard has stressed that they will fit into point of sale slots and automated teller machines. Kazakhstan has witnessed strong economic growth in recent years, fuelled by its booming oil and minerals sector.
