Gold owners 'should use internet valuation' instead of pawn shopsThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Monday, 20th October 2008 (2126 views) Gold owners are being encouraged to capitalise on the current popularity of the precious metal by using a web-based valuation service.Brian Dean of OTCPicks.com has urged those wanting to sell their gold items not to take them to a pawn shop as they will only be offered a fraction of their true worth. Instead, they could try the Money4Gold service, where a protective, insured envelope is sent out to customers for them to post their valuable items to the firm, he said. Highly-trained staff employed by gold refiners will evaluate the items and notify the owners of their worth, based on weight and purity. They will then send a cheque out and customers can choose whether to accept the offer or not. Mr Dean commented: "Few would argue that we are in a long-term 'up' trend for gold and precious metals." The popularity of gold has led to a new wave of amateur prospectors searching for the metal, according to Gold Mining Claims Secrets.
