Thursday, 16th October 2008 (2382 views) Two specialist underwater exploration firms have agreed to work together to search for treasures in the surrounding area of the Firefly shipwreck site off the coast of North Carolina.Several gold artefacts have previously been found in the vicinity and it is hoped that the collaboration of Odyssey Marine Exploration and Intersal will lead to more high-value discoveries. Intersal holds a license from the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources permitting it to scour the area for precious items. The two firms stated that they will strive to maintain high archaeological standards and work closely with the state government. "We are looking forward to using our own advanced technology and expertise to further explore the search area and are committed to continuing Intersal's excellent relationship with the state," remarked Odyssey's president Mark Gordon. Recently, a shipwreck was uncovered off the coast of Namibia, which reportedly yielded the biggest-ever gold find in Africa outside of Egypt.
