Monday, 8th September 2008 (5489 views) African nation Ghana can become a serious player in the global gold market, an expert has claimed.The chief executive of gold exporter AsanSka Investments, Kwabena Asante-Asare, said that the country could effectively compete in the gold jewellery industry, reported by My Joy Online. "Our resolve should be to make first class quality the hallmark of Ghana gold jewellery. This strategy will ensure that our export products stand out amongst the best in the world" he commented. He was speaking at the annual Gold Statement exhibition, an event designed to promote indigenous Ghanaian gold jewellery, the news provider stated. There is growing interest in African culture resulting in higher demand for the continent's products, Mr Asante-Asare noted. Meanwhile, two businessmen have complained to a court in Mali after 50 kilograms of gold they bought was found to actually be made of zinc. The fraud was discovered by airport staff during a customs check, according to the Citizen.
