Gold bars have been given away as part of a hotel promotion.

All guests that stayed in the complex in Manama between July and August were eligible to win.

Stan Roll from the US won first prize - a 250g gold bar - in the competition hosted by the Intercontinental Regency Bahrain, according to the Gulf Daily News.

Second prize was an airline ticket to Hong Kong with three night's accommodation, which was won by Saudi Q Al Muttairi.

Third and fourth were more gold bars - weighing 150g and 100g respectively - given to Abdulla Jassim and Ahmed Hussain, both from Qatar.

Other rewards included free stays at the chain's London and Geneva hotels and complementary dinner vouchers.

Meanwhile, demand for gold has recently surged in India with average sales of 300kg - 400 kg of gold bar per day rising to around three-four tons per day in August, the Financial Express reported.
