Uncirculated gold coins were among a haul stolen from a safe in West Manheim Township, Pennsylvania, it has been claimed.

The Evening Sun reported that thieves broke into a home in the area and took several items including coins, jewellery, an autographed football jersey and cash.

Prescription drugs were also among the stolen goods, according to court documents. Money taken from the property was estimated to be worth around $3,000 (£1 comma 698).

A man from Maryland and a woman from Hanover have been charged in connection with the robbery.

They face accusations of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.

Meanwhile, thieves in Niralanagar, India, made off with jewellery from a woman's house but left behind valuable gold ornaments, stated the Times of India. Police believe the victim may have known the assailants.
