Thursday, 4th September 2008 (1682 views) Prize Mining has revealed that the first gold bar of the year from its Atlin property in British Columbia has been produced.Smelting of a portion of high-grade gold from the Yellowjacket zone of the project has resulted in a 220 ounce gold bar. The value of the item will be calculated after a bullion assay to determine its gold fineness. It was produced from clean table concentrate, most of which still remains - this will also be made into bars after cleaning and de-magnetising. A total of 2142 tons in nine sample blocks has been milled in the area so far. New equipment has arrived on the site and is currently being set up. The semi-autonomous grinding system is predicted to increase production by up to three times when fully functional. Meanwhile, another company with interests in British Columbia - Romios Gold - recently announced positive assay results from its Galore Creek project.
