Friday, 15th August 2008 (1810 views) Two men from Chowchilla, California have been arrested under the suspicion of stealing gold, reports the Modesto Bee.Sheriff's deputies from Merced County are holding the men who are reported to have stolen $1,000 (£536) worth of gold from a mine. To prevent other thefts at the mine, police officials have not announced the name of the mine nor the company that operates it. Earlier this week, the private security company working at the mine called police to report a suspicious looking vehicle. Deputy Tom MacKenzie said when police searched the area they discovered backpacks, tools and a bucket containing small chunks of gold. The two men have been set bail, one for $11,000 and the other for $5,000. In other news, a thief who stole $18 million worth of goods - including $2.3 million worth of jewellery - in 1,000 burglaries has made a training video to help police in the US, reports news.com.au.
