Friday, 8th August 2008 (1697 views) In order to commemorate the 190th anniversary of the national mint in Russia, the Russian Central Bank has created a special coin, reports Moscow News.The three kilogram solid gold coin will feature an image of St Petersburg on one side and the emblem of the Bank of Russia on the other. Just 50 of these coins will be created and each will have a face-value of 25,000 rubles (£537). The Central Bank said people will be able to use the commemorative coins as legal tender at the face value in the country. In other news, the US Mint has launched a set of coins to celebrate the Olympic Games, reports Mercury News. Each of the coins are tagged 8th of the 8th, 2008. In Cantonese the word for eight sounds like wealth or prosper. In the set is the 24-karat gold American Eagle and the 22-karat gold Buffalo - retail price for the pair is $1,300 (£676.0).
