Monday, 12th May 2008 (2441 views) Drilling at the Ciresata prospect in the eastern European nation of Romania has intersected new gold deposits and extended the area's known mineralisation, the company exploring the site has announced.Carpathian Gold said six diamond drill holes have been completed at the site so far as part of its 2008 campaign, with mineralisation encountered at depths varying from 50 metres to 120 metres below the surface. Key results from these holes include intersections of 0.74 g/t gold over 163 metres and 1.00 g/t gold over 42 metres. There were also intercepts of 0.77 g/t gold over 65 metres and 1.56 g/t gold over 22 metres, the company said. Drilling below the "post mineral dike" it added, which extended from a depth of 239 metres to 369 metres, also encountered gold valued at 0.50 g/t gold over 131 metres and 1.07 g/t gold over 17 metres. Carpathian Gold president and chief executive Dino Titaro said he was "encouraged" by the drill results. "Additional drilling is underway to determine the extent of this mineralised body," he added. In addition to its work in Romania, Carpathian Gold is also developing projects in the neighbouring country of Hungary.
