Indian exporter opens first jewellery and coins storeMonday, 12th May 2008 (1343 views) Indian export company Star Brillian has launched its first showroom dedicated to selling gold and diamond jewellery, according to reports.Diamonds.net states that the store, which is located at the Atria mall in Mumbai on India's west coast, will also sell gold coins and other items from the country's state-owned trading house Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation (MMTC). In a statement to the site, Star Brillian director Mehul Shah said the showroom will be the flagship outlet of its new Sakshi brand. He added that the company intends to open more Sakshi stores elsewhere in India in the future. Star Brillian was founded in 1940 to specialise in rough and smooth diamonds, as well as bespoke jewellery. It currently employs around 2,000 people. MMTC meanwhile is India's government-backed trading firm. It manufacturers a range of gold products including commemorative medallions and also organises the Festival of Gold event, which showcases India's jewellery industry.
