Friday, 2nd May 2008 (2404 views) The second phase of a diamond drilling programme at the Siribaya property in western Mali has returned high-grade gold intercepts, the company developing the site has confirmed.Merrex Gold said mineralisation was encountered in all five holes completed under the programme, with high-grade results in three shafts. Assay highlights include gold grades of 5.07 g/t over 33 metres, 5.92 g/t gold over 20 metres and 3.09 g/t gold over 17 metres. Included in these returns were intersections graded at 8.04 g/t gold over 12 metres, 8.99 g/t gold over nine metres and 6.55 g/t gold over 13 metres. There were also gold values of 24.60 g/t gold and 21.40 g/t gold over one metre each, plus 16.42 g/t gold across a distance of three metres. Merrex Gold president and chief executive officer Greg Isenor said: "Siribaya drilling continues to deliver extremely impressive assay results." The Siribaya property is located in the southern portion of the West Mali gold belt, which yields around 1.5 million ounces of the precious metal a year.
