Luxury mobiles boast gold designWednesday, 30th April 2008 (762 views) A pair of new luxury mobile phone handsets made with rose gold have been unveiled by high-end cell phone maker Vertu, according to reports.Cellular News says the new additions to the company's Vertu Signature collection are hand-crafted by skilled artisans - and each takes up to one month to complete. Both incorporate 18ct rose gold with a combination of rubies with either pink diamonds or pink sapphires. The site adds that according to Vertu, eight designers spent approximately four years on the designs for the handsets, refining aspects such as the feel of the keypad to the finest detail. It also took three years for the company's craftsmen to learn how to put the luxury handsets together, it says. Indeed, according to mobiletor.com, twice as many hours went into the research and development of the handset than goes into the design of a Formula One racing car. Vertu's luxury handsets are built at its factories in Church Crookham in the UK and Bad Homburg in Germany. The company is based in the UK.
