Gold explorer to feature on 21st Century BusinessMonday, 28th April 2008 (393 views) Nevada-based exploration firm Columbus Gold is to feature on the television show 21st Century Business hosted by former US Army general and White House chief of staff Alexander Haig, it has been announced. The company will appear in a programme looking at the role of junior explorers in finding new gold discoveries and how they work in partnership with major mining firms to bring those deposits to production. According to a press statement, with demand for gold increasing, "juniors" are becoming increasingly important in replacing mined-out reserves - with 75 per cent of new gold discoveries reportedly made by junior firms. However, finding major gold deposits is not easy, with only a few "world-class" discoveries recorded since 1999, the statement adds. Columbus Gold has become one of the leading juniors in the field, the statement adds, through its "exceptional exploration and management team". The programme will discuss some of the company's successes and look at the overall role of junior explorers in the gold mining industry. Alexander Haig is a former four-star general who served in Korea and Vietnam. He also commanded US and NATO forces in Europe, served as chief of staff for presidents Nixon and Ford, and was secretary of state to President Reagan.
