A "significant" high-grade gold find has been announced by Chapleau Resources from its Coringa project in Brazil.

An intersection at the Meio structure was described by the company as "very encouraging" with regards to Coringa's progress as a potential gold resource.

Hole 62 intersected 65.77 g/t gold at a width of three metres between 56 metres and 59 metres.

In addition to intersections of silver, lead, copper and zinc, the gold results were reported after less than 12 per cent of the claim area has been explored, the company added.

This, Chapleau said, coupled with more recent gold identifications beyond current drill targets, opens the potential for more gold mineralisation beyond structures known at present.

The Coringa gold project was acquired by Chapleau in July 2006. Drilling commenced in March of the following year and it was the first such activity in that area since miners worked on the site in the 1970s.
