Thursday, 24th April 2008 (1623 views) Gold 2008 American Eagle coins are among the items included in the new spring gift catalogue from the US Mint, according to reports.Numismaster.com says the coins, which have never been circulated, are included alongside Bald Eagle commemorative coins and all 2008-dated Presidential dollars. The Presidential $1 (50p) collection was launched in 2007 with a design featuring George Washington. Each subsequent design in the series commemorates a different US president. Coins added to the collection in 2008 depict James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren. The US Mint also offers the First Spouse $10 gold coin series, which features the partners of those who have sat in the Oval Office. Coins corresponding to those presidents without spouses feature an image of Liberty. Included in the 2008 programme of First Spouse coins are designs featuring Elizabeth Monroe and Louisa Adams, as well as Liberty designs for Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren. The US Mint was originally established by Congress in 1792. Today it generates $1 billion in revenue each year.
