Gold helmets weighing more than six kilograms will be presented to Indian Premier League (IPL) players who receive the man-of-the-match award, it has been revealed.

Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) will be giving out the cricket helmets, thanks to an arrangement with an unnamed jewellery brand, reports IBNLive.com.

Kolkata Knight Riders is SRK's team and the gimmick is part of a branding exercise in the build-up to the IPR series.

The famous face also suggested that he is nervous about the competition his team will have to face in the forthcoming tournament.

Head of the Professional Cricketers' Association Sean Morris told BBC Radio Five Live this week that a number of the England players will be able to participate in the IPL tournament in 2009.

"There will be a little bit of a window when the England players return from the West Indies," he told the station.
