Tuesday, 15th April 2008 (2631 views) A parade saddle featuring gold pieces and a sheathed knife believed to belong to legendary Lakota Indian chief Crazy Horse are among the items going under the hammer at an auction of Old West artefacts in Texas.The event is being organised by Burley Auction Gallery and it also includes a number of exceptional and everyday items from the Old West and the American Civil War. Among the other items open for bids are a selection of firearms belonging to the state troopers of the Texas Rangers, a lithograph made by Union General George Custer and a Civil War-era sniper rifle complete with telescopic sight. In all, 150 firearms will be on the auction block at the event - including a personally-branded pistol that once belonged to notorious Texas lawman Alfred Y Allee and the gun set of Bill Jordan, one of the state's last gunfighters who went on to serve with the US Marines during World War II and Korea. Navajo Indian rugs, Bowie knives, antique toys and a 1939 Coca-Cola cooler for holding salesmen's samples will also be up for sale. The Western auction takes place in New Braunfels, Texas, on April 19th.
