"Major gold opportunity" expanded in ArgentinaMonday, 14th April 2008 (819 views) Geochemical and structural surveys on the El Torno gold property in Argentina have shown that gold mineralisation at the site is "far more extensive" than previously thought, the company behind the project has announced.Soltera Mining said the results of the studies indicate a series of distinct, "very strong" anomalies along the full length of the property's 14 kilometre-long vein system. According to the company, the central part of the vein had been explored in the 1990s, returning gold values of up to 37 grams per tonne. However, the new survey results suggest this area is "broader and more complex" than earlier prospectors realised. The company added that the wide areas of mineralisation pointed to by its studies mean El Torno could potentially host large-scale open-pit mining operations previously thought unfeasible at the site. In addition to the El Torno property, Soltera Mining is also pursuing gold projects at Eureka in north-west Argentina, Real de Cananea in Sonora, Mexico and Surprise Lake in the Canadian province of British Columbia.
