It forms one of the lots at a forthcoming Hong Kong auction and is expected to sell alongside over 25 other precious-metal and gold items on April 11th. Set with turquoise, sapphires, pearls and rubies, the vessel is inscribed with dragons, the news provider added. It is set to be a popular piece at the auction, given gold's current popularity, said an art dealer based in Beijing. "Timing couldn't be better," said Tian Kai. "Gold is all the rage right now." The Ming Dynasty ruled from 1368 to 1664. It occurred prior to the rebellion and later rule of the Qing Dynasty.
