"Broad" gold zones discovered in GuyanaFriday, 14th March 2008 (3493 views) A "potentially significant" new area of gold mineralisation has been discovered at the Aurora gold property on the Cuyuni River in Guyana, the company that owns the site has said. The firm, Guyana Goldfields, reported that approximately four kilometres of trench sampling was conducted at the site to identify the new zone, North Aleck Hill, with six trenches cut in grid pattern 50 metres apart. In four of the trenches, "broad" gold mineralisation was intersected, with results including 36.5 metres graded at 3.74 g/t gold, 2.42 g/t gold over 133 metres, 1.16 g/t gold over 87 metres and 1.84 g/t gold over 141 metres. The work follows previous trench sampling at the Aleck Hill and Rory's Knoll zones, which started in January 2008. Current mineral estimates for these zones put their resources at 1.79 million ounces of gold in the indicated category and 2.68 million in the inferred category. The Aurora property is located in upper Guyana, north of Guyana Goldfields' Peters mine and south of its Aranka properties.
