High-grade gold strike at Boucher project

Thursday, 13th March 2008 (2489 views)

Drilling has intersected gold mineralisation at the Boucher zone of the Russian Kid property in Quebec for the seventh time, the company behind the work has said.

Rocmec Mining said that both surface and underground drilling had struck gold mineralisation at the property at various depths from ground level to 400 metres beneath the surface.

The most recent drill hole completed at the site intersected a 20.1-metre wide section of mineralisation at a depth of 245 metres, the company said. Gold values returned from this hole include 52.01 g/t gold over 0.61 metres and 13.35 g/t gold over 0.91 metres.

This hole is located in the same area as previous drilling that returned grades of 0.24 g/t gold over 0.40 metres.

Rocmec commented that "sizeable" difference between the grades is "very characteristic" of the narrow-vein ore deposits located in the Abitibi region of Quebec and it is therefore planning to drill ten further exploration holes before developing the Boucher zone.

The company currently owns a 100 per cent interest in a number of gold properties in the Abitibi region - Russian Kid, Montauban, Courville-Maruska and Vauquelin.
