High-grade gold strike in Burkina FasoTuesday, 11th March 2008 (2596 views) A second round of results from the fourth phase of drilling at the Karma project in Burkina Faso, West Africa, the company behind the scheme has announced.Riverstone Resources said the drilling, which is targeting the Kao Main zone, has returned "exceptionally high-grade gold". Results from the reverse circulation programme include gold values of 16.7 g/t gold over 12 metres, 2.22 g/t gold over 14 metres and 1.18 g/t gold over 26 metres. Additional intersections returned values of 1.28 g/t gold over 20 metres, 2.35 g/t gold over six metres and 1.30 g/t gold over 11 metres. Drilling has expanded the definition of the zone's mineralisation to the north-west, Riverstone said but Kao Main remains open in this direction, as well as to the north and at depth. Riverstone president Michael D McInnis said he was "very excited" about the latest set of results. "High grade feeder zones are common within West African gold deposits and our expectation is that we will continue to encounter more of these higher gold values," he commented. The Karma property - which comprises the Kao, Rambo, Rounga and Goulagou prospects - is Riverstone Resources' most advanced project in Burkina Faso. Its others include Bissa East, Yaramoko and the Ligidi project 125 kilometres south-east of the country's capital, Ouagadougou.
