High-grade gold intercepts made in Mexico

Tuesday, 11th March 2008 (2363 views)

Results from an ongoing drill programme at the Cerro Colorado gold mine in Mexico has returned the highest-grade intercepts over the largest widths to date, the company conducting the exploration has said.

To date, Sierra Minerals said it has drilled 195 holes at the site to a total depth of 14,000 metres to define its resources, explore new targets and for ground sterilisation.

The latest round of drilling returned high-grade intercepts, including 90 metres graded at 1.59 g/t gold, which was struck 28 metres below the surface.

Other returns from the drilling include 26 metres of 4.71 g/t gold, 44 metres of 0.9 g/t gold and 50 metres grading 1.15 g/t gold.

High-grade values include 2.14 g/t gold over 22 metres and 1.11 g/t gold over 16 metres.

Cerro Colorado is located in Sonora state, approximately 140 kilometres south of the border with the United States. Its annual production target for 2008 stands at 30,000 ounces of gold.
