Argentina gold drilling gets underwayWednesday, 5th March 2008 (2364 views) Golden Arrow Resources has started a 2,200-metre diamond drilling programme at the San Jose gold project in north-west Argentina, the company has confirmed. The programme, which will include a minimum of 19 holes, has been initiated after "extensive" surface channel sampling over a two-year period identified three "significant" zones of mineralisation, the company said. All three zones will be tested under the current programme. Results from the surface channel sampling include 5.5 metres of 1.66 g/t gold, three metres of 3.42 g/t gold and seven metres grading 1.39 g/t gold. Additional returns comprised 32 metres graded at 0.77 g/t gold, 23 metres of 0.99 g/t gold and a ten-metre intersection of 1.70 g/t gold. According to Golden Arrow, San Jose hosts high-grade gold quartz vein occurances and stockwork-related bulk-tonnage style mineralisation. It is part of the Sierra de Rinconada, which contains a continuous belt of mineralisation covering an area of 30 kilometres by 130 kilometres. The area already hosts a number of gold operations, including Minas Azules, Rinconada, El Carmen and El Torno, the company said. Golden Arrow is currently working on a number of projects in Argentina, including the Poncha gold property in San Juan province and the Costa project in Patagonia.
