New gold zone discovered in MontanaWednesday, 5th March 2008 (2670 views) Canadian exploration firm Millstream Mines has announced that continued exploration work at its Tamarack gold property in the US state of Montana has discovered a new zone of high-grade mineralisation. The company said the gold-bearing zone was discovered in a ten foot by ten foot drift. The enriched gold seam within it measures ten feet across the mine face. A panel sample taken from the face of the seam returned results of 229.83 grams per tonne. A second panel sample, extracted across the entire mine face and incorporating the seam returned composite assay results of 23.57 g/t gold. Both panel samples also included silver and copper results, Millstream said. The new zone was discovered 157.27 metres down the site's decline and this is where sampling was carried out, the company confirmed. The Tamarack property is a former producer of high-grade gold located in the Tobacco Root Mountains of Madison County, Montana. It comprises six patented claims as well as an unpatented claim block. Active production at the site was last carried out in the late 1960s.
