High-grade gold drilled in Bolivia

Tuesday, 4th March 2008 (2539 views)

High-grade gold intercepts including 9.65 metres grading at 7.9 g/t gold are among the results from the first ten holes drilled this year at the San Simon project in Bolivia, the company behind the project has announced.

Eaglecrest Explorations said a total of 2,876 metres had been drilled at the site in the country's north-east in 2008, producing a number of "encouraging" intersections.

It said all of the intercepts over half a metre in length have returned gold grades over more than two grams per tonne.

These include values of 6.7 g/t gold over 2.3 metres, 20.2 g/t gold over 1.1 metres and 7.9 g/t gold over 8.9 metres.

In addition, intersections of 17.6 over 0.9 metres, 13.3 g/t gold over 0.7 metres and 5.1 g/t over 2.1 metres have been recorded.

Commenting on the results, Eaglecrest's president and chief operating officer Hans Rasmussen said the results would add "significant insight" into the company's 3D model of the L463 gold shoot.

"I am especially encouraged that the re-logging and re-sampling of previously drilled holes is yielding new mineralized intervals," he added.

San Simon is located around 450 kilometres north of Santa Cruz, Bolivia near the border with Brazil. It sits on the same gold belt that hosts the 1.6 million-ounce Sao Francisco gold deposit.
