Drilling underway at AmarilloWednesday, 13th February 2008 (1555 views) ATW Venture has re-commenced its drilling programme at the Amarillo gold, silver and copper property in southern Argentina. The company said it will concentrate on the number one target area at the site, Esperanza, after previous drilling was curtailed by the onset of bad winter weather. It will also explore two other gold and copper targets nearby the Esperanza site, as well as testing for gold mineralisation at the north end of the property. Amarillo is located within the Veladero-El Indio gold belt in the Andes, which hosts several major gold deposits. These include the 12.6 million-ounce Veladero prospect and Pascua Llama, which is estimated to have a gold resource of 18.3 million ounces. The area is also home to the El Indio high-grade gold and copper mine. ATW recently announced the start of another drilling programme to expand the gold resources at its Burnakura gold mine in Western Australia.
