Gold discovery in IndonesiaTuesday, 5th February 2008 (2427 views) A drilling programme at the Jelai gold property in Indonesia has uncovered high-grade gold intercepts with values of up to 17.33 g/t gold. The corporation behind the project, Kalimantan Gold, said other values encountered by the drilling include 2.15 g/t gold over an distance of 5.95 metres, which comprised a 0.65 metre interval of gold valued at 10.30 g/t. All the discoveries were within 47 metres of the surface the company said. The drilling comes after a report from economic geology consultant Dr Peter Pollard concluded that Kalimantan's exploration programme had "met with considerable success" and enhanced the chances of defining "a major gold resource in the Jelai district". Kalimantan has now completed 27 holes with depths of up to 80 metres at Jelai and is 2,000 metres through a planned 4,000-metre programme. Kalimantan is a junior exploration and mining company focussed on developing copper, gold and coal projects in the resource-rich region of Kalimantan, Indonesia.
