Friday, 1st February 2008 (4466 views) A drilling programme has started at the Gold Lake copper and gold property in New Mexico, the company behind the project has announced.High Desert Gold said it has identified a target at the property in Grant County, New Mexico and plans to drill 3,000 metres during this initial programme. The company says the target is a porphyry copper-molybdenum-gold system that was discovered through surface geochemistry. It is through to cover an area of approximately 2.9km by one kilometre. The first results of its sample analysis are expected in March. High Desert Gold has said there is the potential for large-scale discovery at Gold Lake, with strong geochemical signs of gold, copper, molybdenum, silver and uranium detected. Gold Lake is located in the south-east of the Big Burro Mountains, near the town of White Signal, approximately 250 miles from Albuquerque and 312 miles from the state capital, Santa Fe.
