Tiffany boutiques to open in Japan

Monday, 21st January 2008 (1421 views)

Luxury jeweller Tiffany is to open two new boutiques in the Japanese cities of Tokyo and Fukuoka, the company has announced.

A 5,000-sq-ft store will be opened at the Matsuzakaya Ginza department store in Tokyo, which is considered the heart of the Japanese capital's fashion and luxury retail district.

Meanwhile, a 1,700-sq-ft boutique will open its doors in Fukuoka's Hakata Daimaru department store on March 1st.

Both stores will carry the company's collection of engagement rings, designer watches and jewellery.

They bring the number of Tiffany boutiques in Japan to 56, over a third of the company's worldwide outlets.

Michael Christ, president of Tiffany & Co Japan, said the locations would "offer greater convenience to our established clientele" and give the company the opportunity to expand its presence in the country.

Tiffany was founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1837 in New York City. It was celebrated in the Audrey Hepburn film "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and today operates around the world through 150 stores.
