Thursday, 17th January 2008 (2784 views) The winner of the American Numismatic Association's National Coin Week theme contest has been presented with a half-ounce gold coin, it has emerged.According to Numismatic News, for the first time, the winning submission was a musical number entitled Money Makes the World Go Round, which was written and performed by Mark Keefer. Plans are now underway to incorporate the tune into the week-long event, which will be held from April 20-26. Mr Keefer was presented with a half-ounce gold American Eagle proof coin for his efforts and his song may be made available on the American Numismatic Association website. "As the song says, money is a symbol of value, faith and trust and teaches us about world history, commerce and art," he said. Gold coins were also awarded to the competition runners-up, which included a second song entitled Money Makes the World Go Round and a tune titled Be A History Teacher: Give a Kid a Coin.
